Crafted in 1912 by Italian stonemasons as a private home and also serving as a phone exchange in the 1940s, The Porter House has been restored to its turn of the century charm and decorated with rural simplicity. The Porter House bed and breakfast offers 3 suites and 2 rooms, some being distinguished by their own porches and fireplaces, and all having private baths, A/C and wireless internet connection. Rates are $140-$225/night.
All the suites and rooms at The Porter House have hardwood floors, queen sized beds and are furnished in a country living style with antiques, vintage pieces and provincial fabrics. The sunlit rooms, oriental carpets, Casablanca-style fans, and vintage furniture are a gracious invitation to relax with a good book or enjoy a glass of local wine amidst a country village atmosphere. An extended hot breakfast and fresh fruits are served daily in the dining room from 8am-10am (or a prearranged time.) Fresh ground starbucks coffee, bacon & eggs from a local farm and sumptuous baked goods from an in town bakery are some of the items found in the extensive buffet.
