Crafted in 1912 by Italian stonemasons as a private home and also serving as a phone exchange in the 1940s, The Porter House has been restored to its turn of the century charm and decorated with rural simplicity. Gleaming hardwood floors, antique claw foot tubs and chestnut wood work are some of the features this early 20th century stone house has to offer.
The Porter House bed and breakfast offers 3 suites and 2 rooms, some being distinguished by their own porches and fireplaces, and all having private baths, A/C and wireless internet connection. Rates are $140-$225/night.
All the suites and rooms at The Porter House have hardwood floors, queen sized beds and are furnished in a country living style with antiques, vintage pieces and provincial fabrics. The sunlit rooms, oriental carpets, Casablanca-style fans, and vintage furniture are a gracious invitation to relax with a good book or enjoy a glass of local wine amidst a country village atmosphere. An extended hot breakfast and fresh fruits are served daily in the dining room from 8am-10am (or a prearranged time.) Fresh ground starbucks coffee, bacon & eggs from a local farm and sumptuous baked goods from an in town bakery are some of the items found in the extensive buffet.
Located in the center of the Village of Millbrook, The Porter House is a short stroll from cafe's, restaurants, and retail stores as well as from the many antique shops for which the town has gained a reputation.
The Harrison House will be opening its doors as an elegant country inn just outside Millbrook NY. The Inn will offer unique lodging accommodations and gourmet breakfasts year round. Located on a quiet county road, these grounds are an exceptional location for your memorable wedding day or special occasion.
